About Global Stability Watch
Global Stability Watch scans dozens of news sources across six categories — geopolitical, economic, environmental, food security, energy, and US politics — and grades each story on a 1-to-10 scale for how much it actually affects global stability.
How the score works
Every story is graded across several dimensions specific to its category. The overall score reflects the most severe of those dimensions, not an average — a story that scores low everywhere except one catastrophic dimension is treated as high-impact.
Where stories come from
Most stories are pulled automatically from a curated set of news sources across the political spectrum, three times a day.
